Grimm's Road, named after the famous Reading Storyteller,
Brian Grimm.
Reading Location Tour 7: Grimms Road (2)
Grimm's road and the surrounding area was once the site of Simpkin's Famous Tripe Factory and has the curious distinction of being part of a geological anomaly that runs throughout the Thames Valley. High deposits of lodestone or magnetite cause hotspots of strong magnetic variation, a probable cause not only of the rich diversity of residents who turned up here lost in the early years and then stayed, but also explains the fact that if you drop a nail on the ground, it is almost impossible to pick it up.
