Picture of the Week - 65 |
Early Morning Tea, Kenya, 1978 First day of a safari up to Lake Rudolph in Northern Kenya, staying with my sister-in-law's mum in Nairobi. I slept in the cab of the Land Cruiser because I was a bit nervous, and in the early morning, Julius made me a cup of tea. What a glorious and totally alien world is was to me having spent my life in the UK. It was the first time I'd flown in a jetliner, and first time out of Europe. Barbie was adamant I should see the 'big five' in the eight weeks I was there, and I did. I also met the larger-than-life Bob and Leo, who both worked for National Geographic, stood on the footplate of a working steam engine as it was shunting, and witnessed the total shutdown of busy Nairobi when President Jomo Kenyatta died. Quite a trip. Mamiya 500 35mm Camera, Kodachrome 64 To go to the POTW index, click HERE |
