The Wyncarnis
The Main square (actually a triangle). Long story short, but when I first visited Talgarth a half-century ago, there was a 'Wyncarnis Tonics' enamel sign stuck between the upper
windows on this shop. It was a cheery reminder of days gone past, but disappointingly removed in the early eighties. If you think being an
author might be about making good an imperfect world, this is what I would do for Talgarth. And did.
For antiquarian building fans, the square tower behind the Tourist Office is your actual 13th century pele Tower, a sort of fortified family keep. The two sluicing things top right would have been the loo, when the tower was higher.
