Highly accomplished writers are adopting the form to produce works that are valuable as literature and entertainment. Why does this form work so well? What attracts such a wide range of readers to the genre? And how have plots and characters changed to accommodate current issues? Anna Porter, publisher of Key Porter Books and crime writer in her own right, talks with three of the best. Saturday October 25 8:00 p.m. - INTO THE TWILIGHT ZONE JASPER FFORDE, WILLIAM GIBSON, PAUL MCAULEY, SPIDER ROBINSON MODERATOR: DON DEBRANDT Location: WATERFRONT THEATRE Description: As evening falls on Vancouver, anything can happen, especially in the other worlds created by these four writers. Fertile imaginations spawn worlds that crawl with bizarre characters, time travellers, techno-possibilities and freakish futures. To call these four artists ³science fiction writers² is to limit their scope. This is a great opportunity to stretch your mind on a Saturday night.
